02 / WINTER SEASON

High season, low season and in between.

Kopaonik’s ski season usually runs from early or mid-December to early or mid-April, depending on the snow. Here is how demand typically changes across the winter.

EARLY–MID DECEMBER · LOWER DEMAND

Season opening

The season opens (planned start: 3 December 2026). Quieter slopes, but snow depends on the weather and not every run opens at once.

31 DEC – 15 JAN · PEAK SEASON

New Year and winter break

New Year, Orthodox Christmas (7 January), Orthodox New Year (14 January) and the longest school break. The busiest and most expensive weeks.

18 JAN – 14 FEB · BEST SNOW

Mid-winter

Generally the most reliable snow and cold, with busy weekends but calm weekdays. The sweet spot for serious skiers.

15–19 FEB · HIGH DEMAND

Sretenje break

The Sretenje school break and Statehood Day (15–16 February) bring families to the mountain for a long weekend and a week.

MARCH · MODERATE DEMAND

Spring skiing

Longer, sunnier days and thinner crowds. A favourite with people who like spring skiing, and the Big Snow festival is held in late March.

LATE MARCH – APRIL · LOWER DEMAND

Season ending

The season winds down. Lower elevations melt first, and the Easter and spring-break dates (30 April – 4 May 2027) are the exception, with more visitors.

03 / HOLIDAYS & SCHOOL BREAKS

Serbian holidays and school breaks 2026/27.

Serbian families travel to the mountains during school breaks and long weekends, so these are the dates when Kopaonik is busiest. The winter break is the longest and most popular.

Dates from the Serbian Ministry of Education calendar for 2026/27 and the national holiday calendar. School break dates differ slightly between central Serbia and Vojvodina and can change — confirm with official sources.

04 / WHEN TO COME

The best time for your kind of holiday.

Best snow: mid-January to February

Mid-January to the end of February usually gives the best snow conditions, with the longest stretches of reliable cover. Weekends and the Sretenje break are busier, so choose a weekday week if you can.

Fewer crowds: early December and March

Early December and March are the calmest months. Early December depends on the first snow; March brings longer days, spring sun and smaller crowds, and the Big Snow festival is held in late March.

Families: school breaks, booked early

The winter school break and Sretenje week are lively and fun for families, but they are also the busiest weeks of the year. Book early and plan lessons or the ski kindergarten in advance.

Summer: a long weekend is enough

In summer, weekends are the sweet spot: the gondola, the summer ski slope at Krst and many events run on weekends. The 2026 summer season ran from late June to mid-September.

How early should I book?

Book early. New Year and the winter school break are the most requested dates, and apartments at the center of the resort fill first. The calendar shows free dates and the price for each night.

How do I avoid the crowds?

Choose weekdays or the weeks outside school breaks. Midweek stays are quieter on the slopes and in the lift queues, and a stay of a week or more gives you the best chance of good snow days.

When does the ski season start and end?

Opening and closing dates depend on the snow and can change. Planned season starts have been early to mid-December, and the season usually closes in April. Check the resort’s current information before you travel.

Can I come with children during school breaks?

Yes. Many Serbian families travel during school breaks, so ask early. The studio sleeps up to four guests with one double bed and two single beds.
